Citations

What It Does

Automatically generates citations in academic formats. Capture source information from any webpage and format it correctly for your bibliography.

How to Enable

  1. Click the AssisT icon
  2. Expand School Tools section
  3. Toggle Citations ON

Supported Formats

How to Capture a Citation

Method 1 — Auto-detect:

  1. Visit the webpage you want to cite
  2. Click the Citation button in the AssisT popup
  3. Source information is automatically detected
  4. Review and edit if needed
  5. Click Copy to copy formatted citation

Method 2 — Manual entry:

  1. Click Add Citation Manually
  2. Fill in author, title, date, URL
  3. Select citation format
  4. Copy formatted citation

What Gets Detected

The citation tool automatically extracts:

  • Page title
  • Author name(s)
  • Publication date
  • Website/publisher name
  • URL
  • Access date

Bibliography Manager

View and manage all your captured citations:

  1. Click View Bibliography in School Tools
  2. See all captured sources
  3. Export entire bibliography
  4. Delete or edit individual entries

Export Options

  • Copy individual citation
  • Export all citations as formatted text
  • Download as BibTeX, RIS, JSON, CSV, or HTML

Canvas Helper

What It Does

Integrates AssisT features with Canvas LMS. Read assignments aloud, use accessibility features on Canvas content, and navigate more easily.

How to Enable

  1. Click the AssisT icon
  2. Expand School Tools section
  3. Toggle Canvas Helper ON

Features on Canvas

Assignment pages:

  • TTS reads assignment instructions
  • Focus Mode highlights current content
  • Citation tool captures assignment sources

Discussion forums:

  • TTS reads posts and responses
  • Simplified Interface reduces clutter
  • Annotations work on discussion content

Quiz pages:

  • Focus Mode reduces test anxiety
  • Reading Guide helps track questions
  • Timer compatible with Pomodoro

Automatic Detection

Canvas Helper automatically activates on:

  • *.instructure.com domains
  • Custom institution Canvas URLs
  • Canvas mobile web

Moodle Helper

What It Does

Integrates AssisT features with Moodle LMS. Similar functionality to Canvas Helper, optimized for Moodle’s interface.

How to Enable

  1. Click the AssisT icon
  2. Expand School Tools section
  3. Toggle Moodle Helper ON

The Moodle Helper section contains four individual toggles — each one independently enables a specific accessibility enhancement on Moodle pages:

Automatic Detection

Moodle Helper activates on common Moodle domains and patterns. If your school’s Moodle isn’t detected, add the URL in Settings.

Google Classroom Helper

What It Does

Integrates AssisT features with Google Classroom. Read assignments, announcements, and materials with accessibility tools.

How to Enable

  1. Click the AssisT icon
  2. Expand School Tools section
  3. Toggle Google Classroom Helper ON

The Google Classroom Helper section contains four individual toggles — each one independently enables a specific accessibility enhancement on Google Classroom pages:

Privacy Note

Citations: All source data is stored locally. Nothing is uploaded.

LMS Helpers: AssisT does not access your LMS login credentials or course data. It only applies accessibility features to visible page content.
